Have you always dreamed of exploring South America and becoming fluent in Spanish? Then our exchanges to Chile are a fantastic opportunity to do so.

Located along the western coastline of the South American continent, Chile will amaze you with its rich culture, its art, music and architecture.

The country extends some 4300km from the desert north to the glacial south, enclosed within the beautiful Pacific Ocean on the West and the impressive Andean range on the East. Chile shares most of its extensive eastern border with Argentina, and with Peru and Bolivia in the north.
A country of extremes Chile has snow-capped volcanoes plunging to river canyons. The Great North, where some weather stations have never recorded rainfall, is in stark contrast to storm and snow-prone Patagonia. Chile's sculpted coastline boasts plenty of beaches and bays perfect for fishing and swimming. What an amazing place to explore!

While living with a carefully selected host family you will get the change to understand and become part of this vibrant culture. During your exchange you will experience the people’s warm hospitality and the Latin American way of life. Spanish is the official language in Chile, though a few native dialects like Mapudungun, Quechua, Aymara and Rapa Nui are still spoken in some areas. This is your opportunity to get your Spanish language skills up to scratch!

SEMESTER AND FULL YEAR EXCHANGES

A full year or semester exchange is a great way to become fluent in Spanish and gain a true understanding of the thrilling Latin American culture. Your host family will love to introduce you to local customs and welcome you into their family.

Chile’s rich cultural heritage will give you plenty to explore and experience. The Spanish were the main influence on the country during the Colonial period, but remnants of English, French and German influences can also be seen today. The variety in Chile’s culture is due to the country’s widespread geography from North to South, and this is especially evident in the amazing range of food. From seafood and beef to fruits and vegetables, every region will have its signature dishes. One thing you definitely must try are Empanadas. Empanadas are large turnover snacks with a variety of different fillings. How exciting to make this classical dish with your host family!

For an additional fee you also have the opportunity to see the ancient statues of Easter Island - considered one of the Wonders of the World!

Minimum of one year of Spanish language is required.
